Happening Now

The beaches in Naples are clean and the water in the Gulf of Mexico here is clear. Beaches, estuaries and waterways in this area are not affected by the blue-green algae that has impacted beaches and waterways in other parts of south Florida.

Monitoring for substances like blue-green algae (Cyanobacteria) or the naturally occurring phenomenon known as red tide (Karenia brevis) is ongoing by health, pollution control and natural resources officials in Collier County, which includes Naples, Marco Island and Everglades City. Current monitoring shows the area is clear.
